My name is Kathryn Kennedy.
I am a collage artist, and freelance illustrator in the NYC area. I received my BFA in Illustration, and a Minor in Sculpture, from the University of the Arts.

I work almost completely in traditional collage, sometimes dipping into digital collage work as well. I continue to find myself in this area of experimentation, not fully knowing what I’m doing until it’s all put together. I’m drawn mainly to color and shape, but I like to start with what I can find, whether that’s imagery, textures, or text - something will draw my eye and I’ll move forward from there. 

Working with collage makes me feel more connected to my work and myself. There’s a looseness and unknown that I’ve grown to really respond to while creating this way. I no longer feel held to an idea of perfection. I’ve discovered a love of breaking the border, not feeling like I have to cut away the excess.
